PEDP Newsletter January 2023

Howdy. Happy New Year to all Peirce friends and families. We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday break whether they celebrated by visiting family, having a long staycation, or by finally watching that show you’ve been meaning to check out.

CURRICULUM

This month the program will explore The Rainforest. Projects and activities will teach students the importance of rainforests to the communities that rely on them while also familiarizing them with their natural beauty. Rainforests feature a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna, so we expect to see a wealth of interesting creations.

FUNDRAISING

As you all know by now, the PEDP Craft Fair was a huge success this year. Lots of crafting and lots of fun! The Minnows had a great experience navigating what can be an overwhelming event with the help of their Shark buddies. With your help, PEDP will be able to donate $3,000 towards coral reef research at The Woods Hole Oceanographic Research Institute! Below is the reaction from our WHOI contact when she learned of our news:

Tremendous news and congratulations to you and your students!!!! This will definitely help our corals team!… Thank you, thank you, thank you for thinking of WHOI and wanting to help restore and research coral reefs.
