PEDP Newsletter November 2022

October went by fast, but we had a great time with the New England theme. We also brought back weekly clubs which allow long form projects and ideas to be explored over the course of a few weeks. Some included a Spy Club, Nature Crafts, Basketball, Pet Portraits, and a Make-your-own Board Game club. Some Sharks are even working on a PEDP Newspaper. It will be a limited single edition. Will you be one of the lucky few to get your hands on it?

Reminder: As the weather gets colder we will be requiring hats, jackets, and gloves to go outside.

CURRICULUM

With the PEDP Annual Craft Fair approaching, this month is dedicated to preparing for it. All the kids will aid in creating interesting and fun goods and gifts. Toys, decorations, jewelry, baked goods, and more will all be available to purchase. Each year, the proceeds are donated to a charity that all the children and staff get to vote on.

This year, we will donate to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. WHOI is the world’s leading independent non-profit organization dedicated to ocean research, exploration and education. Two of their many initiatives are the “Marine Microplastics Initiative” which investigates the fate of microplastics and their impact on marine life and human health and “Reef Solutions”, an initiative to protect reef corals and reverse the global decline of reef ecosystems. We’re excited to learn more and support this worthy local organization.
