PEDP Newsletter December 2023

Did you know that PEDP has a “Charity Wall”?  Each year, the children choose a charity to support with the proceeds from our Craft Fair. Though the fair has been going on for several years, we just started showcasing each of the charities eight years ago. Our hope is that our charity wall will make a greater impact for the children. Next time you’re picking your child up for dismissal, check out the charities we’ve been supporting!

CRAFT FAIR:

This year’s Craft Fair was a huge success and our biggest year ever!  We raised over $3500! The kids had a wonderful time shopping. There were so many different crafts to choose from, but they took their time and made thoughtful decisions as to what to purchase. The Sharks did a wonderful job working the tables and helping the Minnows shop.  We can’t wait to make our donation to the Northeast Animal Shelter when they come for a visit on Monday, January 8th.

MUSICAL:

Auditions for Best of Broadway are Tuesday, December 12th from 2:50-5:10 pm. Children must be enrolled in the event, “Musical: Best of Broadway FY24”, through Jackrabbit prior to December 12th. We must have a minimum of twenty-five participants in order to move forward with this production.  Parent Portal Link

Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from January 2 – March 18 from 2:50 – 5:10 pm.  The participation fee for this activity is $75 per child. Performances for the public will be Saturday, March 23rd at 7 pm and Sunday, March 24th at 2 pm. They will also perform on Wednesday, March 27th for the Peirce students and faculty. It’s time to warm up those vocal cords and mark your calendars!

As you can imagine, putting together two musical performances each year, the K/1 Review and the Spring Musical for grades 2-5, is a huge undertaking for our Program.  Work for both happens while we are preparing for the Craft Fair, taking kids to Nashoba to ski and snowboard, going on field trips and providing kids with the daily activities they enjoy. In order to ensure the quality of our Program and the well being of our staff, we have decided that we will offer one theatrical production a year.  This year we offer the Musical for grades 2-5.  Next year will be the K/1 Review, school year 2025-26 will be the Musical, etc.

CURRICULUM:

Our theme this month is Cartooning and Animation.  So many of the kids love to draw so this theme will be right up their alley.

CLASSES:

The Barracudas and Sharks had a blast learning new skills while playing SNAG Golf  last month.  Stay tuned for more classes in the future!

FUNDRAISING:

SAVE THE DATE!

Mark your calendars for our annual TRIVIA NIGHT and SILENT AUCTION on Friday, April 26th at the Neighborhood Club. This adults-only event promises to be an unforgettable evening of fun! The planning team is hard at work to make this year’s event a blast for our PEDP community so line up your babysitter from 6 PM to 10 PM because you won’t want to be anywhere else! Updates to come!

REMINDERS:

As the weather gets colder, we require hats, jackets, and gloves to go outside.  With so many items your child is learning to be responsible for, please help us to help them by labeling your child’s clothing with their name on everything. Thank you!

Do not drive up or park in the driveway at the front of the school. Parents, children and staff are constantly crossing and walking in this area and it is not a safe situation to have moving cars here. This area is quite dark when the sun sets making it even more dangerous.  Please share this policy with your child’s pick up people so they are aware of this as well.  If you see someone pulling into the driveway, and are comfortable doing so, please remind them of this safety policy. Otherwise, please let a PEDP staff member know.

NO SCHOOL OR PEDP:

December 25th – January 1st – December Break

After the busy week we had here at PEDP, we are all looking forward to relaxing this weekend. We wish you all a relaxing weekend as well.
