PEDP Newsletter February 2021

As we stare out the window at our snow-covered yards, it’s finally sinking in.  We can’t escape winter!  Cue the puzzles, hot chocolate, and sleds!

Winter at PEDP
We go outside everyday at PEDP unless it’s below 20 degrees (including the wind chill factor).  Your child will tell you that they need “all 5 things” – boots, a hat, gloves/mittens, a warm jacket and snow pants when there is snow.  Please make sure that your child is bringing sneakers to change into when their boots come off. We do not want them tracking snow and water all over the floor as people can slip and fall.
We are also finding that besides sneakers and snowpants, the children are forgetting headphones, chromebooks, water bottles, etc.  We need your help! Teachers are spending a lot of time trying to track these items down for the kids.  Their backpacks are loaded, we know, but please help them double check that they are leaving home with everything they need for the day. We have attached our checklist that might be helpful for you to have hanging by the door or wherever it is you do the packing.
PEDP Social and Fundraising
BINGO night was a big success with over 35 families and staff logging in for an hour of family fun and prizes!
Our next event will be our popular Trivia Night hosted once again by James Marohn.  Mark your calendars for Saturday night, April 10th. We have an enthusiastic group of volunteers who will start meeting in early February to plan this social evening and successful fundraiser for PEDP.  If you are looking for a short term volunteer commitment, please join us!  Contact Kathy at PEDP if you’d like help out!
Parent Conferences
It’s not too late to sign up for a parent conference.  These are held via Zoom and there are time slots at times throughout the day to accommodate your schedule.   The teachers are eager to share the great things we are seeing in your children! Use the Sign-Up Genius link we sent a few weeks ago or just contact us to set up a time.
Materials needed
Kathy is looking for holiday greeting cards to use for a project for next year’s Craft Fair (yes, we plan all year 🙂).   If you are looking to recycle your cards, please bring them to PEDP to be upcycled into something new!
