January 2026 News from PEDP

Hello and Happy New Year PEDP Families!! 🎉

Our winter recess has come to an end, and I hope everyone was able to spend it well. Before the break, I had mentioned that December was going to be busy and it sure was! All of our PEDPers were able to shop at our craft fair–you may have even seen some of their purchases during the holidays 🙂– with the older kids doing an incredible job at helping the younger ones- we really came together as a program! And what is the fruit of all of this labor? Well, a whopping $3,700 raised for the Center St. Food Pantry in Newton. Way to go!!!

With the vacation over, we are preparing for a wild January. What better way to beat the wintertime blues than with some fun winter activities! Starting this Wednesday, January 7th, our famous ski program begins! The kids who are signed up will embark on a slippery slopey adventure at Nashoba Valley’s ski area. The kids who stay behind will be treated to a fun day of special activities with a smaller group.

Accompanying the ski program this January is the start of our Musical Rehearsals for The Wizard of Oz! Co-directed by our very own Ms. Alicia and Mr. Jacob. Auditions were held in December, and rehearsals will begin Tuesday January 20th, and will continue every Tuesday until the show in April.

Besides our special days, our normal days will follow the curriculum theme Fairytales and Folktales an exciting theme for sure! Our dedicated PEDP teachers will lead a variety of activities from paper castle building, reading of classic fables, plenty of drama games, and a whole lot of fairytale fun!

As we approach the midyear season, our annual parent conferences are about to begin. Our PEDP Teachers will put together a brief document with details about what your child is up to at PEDP, then meet with you to discuss. An email regarding signup has already been sent out.

Mark your Calendars:

  • Friday, January 23rd marks the return of our Kids Night In. Want a nice night out? Want peace of mind that your kids are being taken care of and having fun? Sign them up for our PEDP Kids night in! Registration opening soon.
  • Monday January 19th is MLK day, NO SCHOOL.

Quick Reminder: If there is snow on the ground, your child will need snowpants and boots on top of a coat, gloves, and a hat in order to play outside. Make sure they’re coming to school with the right gear!

Thank you all, and let’s have a great 2026!
