PEDP News June 2023
The end of the year is here. Did you blink and miss it? The last few months have been flying by, but as they say, “time flies when you’re having fun”. Between all of our field trips and the K-1 review we had a very eventful May. Please review all the updates and special events that are happening this month. There are a lot of them. We hope to see you there and we wish you a happy and healthy summer.
CURRICULUM
This month we celebrate the rainbow. As a rainbow represents all the different colors we see, we will recognize all the diverse ways people live. Though we are unique, we all contribute to the beautiful rainbow that makes up PEDP.
FIELD TRIPS
Minnows (Last month)
Blue Hills Reserve
The hike was lovely. The bus broke down on the way back, but the kids and staff made the most of it and they had a wonderful time!
Barracudas (Last month)
Discovery Museum
The Barracudas had so much fun exploring the museum and learning new things.
Sharks (Last month)
Kimball Farms
The Sharks had lots of fun playing mini golf and topped it off with delicious ice cream.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Family Picnic
Thursday June 8th
Join us at Ware’s Cove to celebrate the end of another fantastic year. The program will supply charcoal for the grill, utensils, condiments, and napkins. Come prepared with a main course to grill, as well as a side dish to share. The program will be closing at 5pm to accommodate the staff who will be attending. We hope to see you there.
Swim Up Day
Tuesday June 13th
Some of our Barracudas and Minnows will find out what it takes to be the big fish in the program. First and third graders will be moving up to the next fish group to get a glimpse of what is in store for them. Our fifth graders will be joining the kindergarteners for one last chance to be a Minnow before heading off to middle school.
Minnows Wacky Water Day
Wednesday June 7th
The Minnows will celebrate the end of the year with a slew of fun summertime activities. Don’t get wet!
Longevity and Graduation celebration
Thursday June 1st
Come celebrate the dedication of our veteran staff members as well as our graduating fifth graders (photo below). Pablo is celebrating his 5th year, Nancy her 10th, and Laurie her 15th year. Please join us on the basketball court at 5pm for good cheer and light refreshments.
REMINDERS
The 2023-24 PEDP tuition deposit is due Wednesday June 7th
All payments must be in by the last day of school
(This includes money owed for: Extra hours, late pick-ups, calling fees, and tuition.)
Over the Summer
The program will not be open over the summer but the Leadership Team will be busy hiring and getting ready for next year. If you need to reach us, please email at kids@peirceedp.com. We will be checking email regularly. If you need to leave a message on our phone, please text/call the PEDP cell (617-877-6652) and NOT the landline.
