PEDP has some exciting events coming up in March!
Trivia Night
Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 10th! That evening will mark the return of our popular TRIVIA NIGHT fundraiser! This will be a virtual event for the entire family! There will be several rounds of trivia questions, a live auction, prizes, and more! James Marohn will once again be our Trivia host and he will have questions sure to challenge hardcore trivia enthusiasts of all ages. Trust me, you will not want to miss it! Look for an Evite to be sent in the coming weeks. And leading up to Trivia Night…
Silent Auction
This year, we will be using an online auction platform specifically designed for nonprofits. Our link will go “live” in the last week of March and bidding will be available right up until Trivia Night. The auction elves have secured some great items and packages this year. Items include a weekend on Martha’s Vineyard, a wine-tasting party, a BOSE bluetooth speaker for your home, a quilt, beautiful artwork and more! Everyone will find something of interest in our auction theme packages – Doggie Delights, Baby Basket, Dad’s Night, Birthday Party and Beach Day to name just a few. Once again, the PEDP staff talents will be on the bidding block – everything from a photo shoot or personal shopping experience to crafting time and sports clinics. A link for online bidding will be sent out on March 25th. Check your inbox!
PEDP March Theme
Our theme for the coming month is India. This fascinating country gives us so much to celebrate and learn about. Inventions, famous people, architecture, literature – so many interesting projects have been planned to highlight India’s contributions. For example, next week in the Virtual Program, students will be drawing the Taj Mahal and making barfi! Look for some exciting projects from in-person PEDP coming home in the backpacks!
2021-2022 PEDP Registration
As of right now, we do not have enough information to start registration for 2021-22. We are hoping to open registration by mid-April and will update you as soon we know more.
Schedule Updates
Newton Public Schools switched the schedule for March 16 (Election Day) and March 17 and PEDP will need to do the same.
- Tuesday, March 16th will be an early release. PEDP will operate its 8:00 – 4:00 pm schedule for its Wednesday program enrollment. The Virtual Program will be closed.
- Wednesday, March 17th will be a regular day for Cohort A. PEDP will be expecting their A group (normal Tuesday enrollment). The Virtual Program will be open 3-6 pm.
You’ve likely heard the rumblings of plans to increase the in person learning time for elementary students. We don’t have enough information yet to let you know how this will affect PEDP but trust that we’re on top of it!
