Dear PEDP Families, Alumni and Friends, October 2023
For 46 years, the Peirce Extended Day Program has been an integral part of the Peirce Elementary School community providing families with exceptional, creative, and reliable before and after-school care. Enrollment is back to pre-pandemic levels and this year over 55% of Peirce students are enrolled in PEDP. This is the highest percentage of Peirce students to ever participate in our program.
While the pandemic may be in our rearview mirror, the side effects are still very much front and center. There continues to be an increased need for all children that missed out on critical developmental years, making social and emotional benefits of high-quality childcare that much more important.
The staff at PEDP have always prided themselves in the highest standards of care and safety for our families. One way we set ourselves apart is by continuing to attract and retain staff that our families can rely on, while keeping tuition affordable. Times have changed though, and it is far more difficult to attract first-rate committed employees in today’s competitive workforce. PEDP must take the lead and continue to increase our benefits and hourly wages to attract the caliber of staff we are seeking. Our children count on us to remain vigilant in our resolve and not settle for anything less.
