PEDP NEWS
MAY 2025
We had a wonderful time at PEDP during the vacation week! The weather cooperated and was beautiful for our trips to Castle Island and Battleship Cove. In speaking with several Barracudas about the vacation week, many said Battleship Cove was their favorite part of the week. The picture above is a group of kids and Miss Lula in front of the ships.
Understanding Our Differences, a program that uses a hands-on, participatory disability curriculum to foster respect, acceptance, and inclusion for people of all abilities, visited PEDP on Wednesday, April 16th. After a short presentation about autism, the Barracudas and Sharks participated in several activities that showcased the ways communication can be challenging. They finished with a guest speaker who spoke of his life with autism and then gladly took questions from the kids. PEDP staff had follow-up conversations with small groups later in the day and the impact of the entire event was evident.
Curriculum Theme
The theme for May is Ancient Civilizations. We’ll be learning about how important previous ancient civilizations were, helping create the world we live in now.
