Hello and happy November,
We are in the month of giving thanks and there sure have been many things to be thankful for here at PEDP.
On Wednesday, October 23rd the Sharks group went on a field trip to Crescent Farms in Haverhill, MA. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather! Four teacher-led groups took on the challenging but very fun corn maze and the students learned to work together to problem-solve. Their diligence was rewarded by some delicious soft serve ice cream.
On Tuesday, October 29th the Minnows fish group had a field trip to Hanson Farm. They had a blast in the corn maze, picking sugar pumpkins, and playing lawn games.
Tuesday was also an early release day so the Barracudas and Sharks had a Fall fun day with four different stations of activities: Pumpkin bean bag toss and pin the wart on the witch in the gym, bingo in the auditorium, Halloween-themed pin crafts in the Pacific, and popsicle stick puppets in the Atlantic. The teachers were very impressed with their creativity and everything ran smoothly.
October was also the month of superheroes and the kids were able to enjoy many superhero-themed crafts, games and projects.
Curriculum
The theme for November is…Crafting for the Fair!!
This is an annual favorite where the children create many diverse and wonderful crafts for purchase in time for the holidays at the fair in December. Our teachers are busy cultivating and planning many ideas in which all the fish groups will participate.
All profits from the fair will directly benefit the World Central Kitchen. The teachers and students voted for this generous charity. Food is a universal right and WCK is first to the frontlines providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. Among others, they are currently serving people affected in North Carolina, Florida, Ukraine, and children in Gaza.
Field Trips
The Barracudas will be going on a field trip to the EcoTarium Museum of Science and Nature in Worcester. The EcoTarium is a hands-on museum with indoor and outdoor exhibits that we’ll explore. Exhibits include Secrets of the Forest, The Arctic Next Door: Mount Washington, and the Nature Explore Outdoor Exhibit. The temporary exhibit is New England Wood: The Timber States. This fun field trip will take place on Wednesday, November 20th from 1:15-5:30 P.M. The cost is $25 per child. Sign up your Wednesday Barracuda on the Parent Portal.
