PEDP News –  October 2024

Flying High Dogs performance

Happy Fall, PEDP families!

It’s hard to believe it’s October already! I just came back from a gorgeous weekend in Burlington, VT and the foliage is already looking spectacular up there.

We have been off and running during the month of September. With many new faces of both students and teachers, the year is off to an exciting new start!

One of the highlights of this month was our Flying High Dogs show last Thursday as pictured above. Several students and teachers had the opportunity to toss a frisbee for the dogs to catch. They put on quite a show, jumping and twisting to make a spectacular catch.

Curriculum Theme:

Our theme this month is “Superheroes”! We will be creating and exploring both fictional characters who have extraordinary powers as well as learning about who our real-life heroes might be. Such a great theme for learning and stretching the children’s imaginations!

Our Minnows group will also have clubs on Mondays throughout October.

Field Trips:

Mark your calendars for the following upcoming field trips:

  • Minnows (gr K & 1st) visit Connors Farm on Tuesday, 10/29
  • Sharks (gr 4th & 5th) visit Connor’s Farm on Wednesday, 10/23

There will be corn mazes to explore and apple cider donuts to enjoy. Perfect for Autumn fun! More information will be emailed out in the next week.

Special Events:

On Tuesday, October 29th, the Barracudas (Gr. 2nd & 3rd) and Sharks (Gr. 4th & 5th) will be celebrating “Fall Fun” at EDP. There will be games and crafts galore!

Classes:

Skiing and Snowboarding (Grades 2-5)

This five-week program will run on Wednesdays from January 8th to February 12th. An email with detailed information will be sent in about a week.

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. Per our Parent Handbook, we will be implementing a two-stage Ski/Snowboard enrollment process based upon the number of days a student is enrolled in PEDP.
  2. Nashoba will NOT be offering snowboarding lessons to school groups this year. However, if your child is an experienced snowboarder (i.e. able to snowboard on intermediate slopes and ride the lift without an adult), they will be able to snowboard with a PEDP staff member during the lesson time but without formal instruction.

REGISTRATION OPENS Monday, October 21st @ 7AM until Wednesday, October 23rd @ 7AM for students enrolled in PEDP 3-5 afternoons per week.

***NOTE: Registration will be closed for a 24-hour period***

REGISTRATION RE-OPENS Thursday, October 24th @ 7AM for students enrolled in PEDP one or more afternoons per week.

*Please be advised that this program filled up within minutes last year
