PEDP Newsletter October 2023

Hello PEDP Families!

We Had a wonderful start to the year here at PEDP! We have several new staff members in each fish team that are bringing some new fun and their own personal flare to our program! The Sharks had a fun month full of tasty pudding projects, epic kickball games and even some sewing projects! This month our curriculum theme was Games where the fish teams took some time to learn new games and even create some fun games of their own! Next month our curriculum theme is Trees so we will be learning all about trees and their importance to our lives and the planet!

CLASSES

SNAG Golf: This month on Thursdays, the Sharks and Barracudas will have the opportunity to participate in a golf program here at PEDP. Parents can sign their children up for this class on the parent portal! The classes start on October 12th.

Ski and Snowboard: (Grades 2-5)

·      6-week program will run on Wednesdays from January 3rd to February 7th

·      Open to grades 2-5

·      An email with detailed information will be sent in about a week

Please Note:

1. Per our Parent Handbook, this year we will be implementing a two-stage Ski/Snowboard enrollment process based upon the number of days a student is enrolled in PEDP.

2. We have just been informed that Nashoba will NOT be offering snowboarding lessons to school groups this year.  If your child is an experienced snowboarder (i.e. able to snowboard on intermediate slopes and ride the lift without an adult), they will be able to snowboard with a PEDP staff member during the lesson time but without formal instruction.

REGISTRATION OPENS Monday, Oct 16 @ 7am thru Wednesday, Oct 18 @ 7am  for:

Students enrolled in PEDP 3-5 afternoons per week

***NOTE: Registration will be closed for a 24-hour period***

REGISTRATION RE-OPENS Thursday, Oct 19 @ 7am for:

Students enrolled in PEDP 1 or more afternoons per week

*Last year, this program filled up within 10 minutes

REMINDERS:

Please label your children’s belongings *especially water bottles*. As the kids travel between spaces throughout the day, things get left behind and it is much easier to return your child’s personal belongings if there is a name on them!

10/9 No School for Indigenous People’s day!

Best,

Miss Courtney
