PEDP Families,
We are so lucky to have had such wonderfully warm and dry weather for just about the first two months of school. The weather is quickly changing but we all knew the cold was coming!
October was all about “Walking a Mile in My Shoes”. We learned some fun facts about the PEDP staff. Did you know that Miss Laurie P. relaxes by playing the piano and that Mr. Nick has gone cliff jumping? Ask your kids if they remember any of the other facts we learned throughout the month.
In November we will be crafting for our Annual Craft Fair. The Fair, which will be held the week of December 6th, is a fun event that allows kids to do some holiday gift shopping on their own. It is also our program’s largest community service project as we donate the proceeds to charity. Staff and kids have been casting their vote for a charity, so stay tuned. More details about the Fair will be coming later in the month.
Early Release Tuesday, November 2nd
The Minnows and Barracudas have a field trip planned to Capron Park Zoo in Attleboro. If your child is in one of these groups and is enrolled for Early Release Tuesdays, you can sign him/her up for the trip through the parent portal. The cost of the trip is $20. The Sharks will be staying back at PEDP. They will be celebrating their Shark Pride with a variety of activities.
Annual Giving Fund
The PEDP Annual Giving Fund is underway. Please consider making a donation! Though we are gaining a greater sense of normalcy every day, we are far from back to normal. Your gift to PEDP will have a great impact on the Program. No donation is too big or too small!
To donate online, please click this link: “PEDP Annual Giving Fund”
To donate by check, please mail it to: PEDP, 170 Temple Street, West Newton, MA 02465.
Covid-19 Protocol
Just a reminder of the following policy:
If my child is a close contact and participates in the Test & Stay protocols, can he/she attend PEDP? No. Currently the Test & Stay only allows for the child to attend school and it does not extend to after school (or before, as in the Early Bird program). Don’t forget to inform PEDP if your child will be absent from the Program.
Outside at PEDP
It’s time to dig out the warm jackets, hats and mittens. We go outside everyday with the kids and we go by the “feels like” temperature when deciding what children need to wear to go outside. If it feels like 59 degrees or below, kids will need a second layer of clothing such as a sweatshirt or jacket, below 49 degrees a jacket is required and below 40 degrees kids will need a warm jacket, hat and mittens/gloves. Please send your children prepared for the day.
Mindfulness and Movement Class
The last class is now Wednesday, November 10th.
